PRODUCT DETAILS
A handprint frame made personal for someone they love
Little hands grow quickly. This personalised handprint frame gives Mum, Dad or a grandparent a way to keep a small reminder of them. Choose the recipient and painted colour, add your engraved message, then let the children finish the blank wooden centre with their own colourful handprints.
The “Hands Down” design combines a raised wooden recipient word, a painted border and dark engraved details. Whether it says Best Mummy Ever, Best Grandad Ever or Best Grandma Ever, the finished gift carries the children's prints and the words you chose together.
Please note: your frame arrives with a blank centre for decorating at home. Handprints shown in the photographs are examples. Paints, brushes and ink pads are not included. One personalised wooden keepsake and its display stand are supplied.
What makes this keepsake special?
- A choice of recipients: Dad, Daddy, Mum, Mummy, Grandma, Grandpa, Grandad, Granny, Uncle, Auntie or Custom.
- Raised wooden wording: the chosen recipient stands out above the natural wood, with BEST and EVER completing the design.
- Your own engraved message: add a short sentiment, children's names, a sign-off and an optional date beneath HANDS DOWN.
- Seven painted colours: Black, Grey, White, Beige, Pink, Blue and Brown for the frame and matching raised word.
- A blank space for real handprints: create the finished gift with your child rather than sending a photograph of their hands.
- Display stand included: a freestanding wooden keepsake for a desk, shelf or mantelpiece.
- Layered wooden construction: made using 3 mm birch plywood components, with a natural wooden centre and a slim decorative border.
For Mum, Dad, grandparents and more
Create a Father's Day handprint gift for Dad or Daddy, a Mother's Day handprint keepsake for Mum or Mummy, or a birthday surprise for Grandma and Grandad. The same design can celebrate the uncle who always makes them laugh or the auntie who is there for every little adventure.
Select Custom for another short family name, such as Nana, Nanny or Papa. The wording should be the name the children actually use. For a longer recipient word or a different arrangement, contact us before ordering so we can check the available space.
You can include more than one child's name in the engraved message. If several children will add prints, plan their positions first: how many fit will depend on their hand sizes. You might choose different paint colours for each child or keep all the prints in one colour.
How to personalise your handprint frame
- Choose who it is for. Select the recipient from the menu. This becomes the raised wooden word. For Custom, enter the exact recipient word in your personalisation details.
- Choose the frame colour. This colours both the wooden border and raised recipient word. The centre stays natural wood; the engraving stays dark.
- Enter the complete bottom wording. Include the short message, children's names and sign-off you want engraved. Add a date only if wanted. Separate the lines clearly.
- Check your spelling. Check names, punctuation, kisses and dates before checkout. Names, sign-offs and dates are not added automatically.
Example personalisation
Who is it for? Grandad
Colour: Blue
Bottom wording:
We love you so much!
Amelia & Adam xxx
18/10/2026
This creates a raised Grandad word with your message, names and date engraved below HANDS DOWN. Leave the date out of your wording if you do not want one.
Custom recipient example: choose Custom, then enter “Recipient: Nana” followed by your bottom message and names. The standard words BEST, EVER and HANDS DOWN remain part of the design. Contact us before ordering if you want to change them or request a precise layout. A wording preview is available on request.
Choose a colour that suits their home
Pick a classic Black, Grey or White finish, a warm Beige or Brown, or a soft Pink or Blue. The gallery includes a colour chart and finished examples so you can compare the options. Your selected colour applies to the frame and raised recipient word together; it does not select the handprint paint.
Pink and Blue have a gentle pastel appearance. Wood grain, painted texture, daylight and screen settings can cause slight differences between the photographs and the piece you receive.
Finish it with their little hands
Set aside a little time to make the gift together. Protect your table and practise a print on spare paper before using the wooden centre. Use a thin layer of paint suitable for children's handprint activities, press gently and lift the hand without sliding. Allow the first print to dry before adding another.
Choose decorating materials separately, following the manufacturer's instructions and age guidance. An adult should supervise the activity. Keep water to a minimum and let the finished design dry fully before placing it in the supplied stand.
What arrives in your order
You receive one personalised wooden handprint frame with its wooden display stand. The recipient, colour and engraved wording are prepared to your order; the central area is left blank for you to decorate. Paints, brushes, ink pads and photographic props are not included. This is a wooden craft keepsake with an open wooden surface, rather than a glass photo frame.
Frequently asked questions
Does the frame arrive with handprints?
No. The wooden centre arrives blank for you to add your child's handprints at home. The raised recipient word and your personalised engraved wording are prepared before dispatch. Coloured handprints in the photographs show examples of the finished gift.
Are paints, ink pads or brushes included?
No. Paints, ink pads, brushes and other decorating materials are not included. Choose a paint suitable for children's handprint activities, follow its manufacturer's age guidance and supervise children throughout.
Can I order it for someone other than Dad?
Yes. Choose Dad, Daddy, Mum, Mummy, Grandma, Grandpa, Grandad, Granny, Uncle or Auntie. Select Custom for another short recipient word, such as Nana, Nanny or Papa, and write the exact word in the personalisation box. Contact us first about unusually long wording.
Which parts of the wording are personalised?
Your chosen recipient appears in raised wood. The short message, children's names, sign-off and optional date are engraved beneath HANDS DOWN. BEST, EVER and HANDS DOWN form the standard design. Please contact us before ordering if you want to change those fixed words.
How do I enter my engraving?
Write the complete bottom wording you want, including your message, names, kisses and any date. For example: We love you so much! / Amelia & Adam xxx / 18/10/2026. Use separate lines where helpful. No names, sign-off or date are added automatically.
Do I need to type Grandma or Daddy again?
For a standard recipient, choose it from the Who is it for? menu. You do not need to repeat it in the engraving box. If you choose Custom, clearly state the exact recipient word before your bottom message.
Is a date compulsory?
No. Add a date only if you want it engraved. You may use a full date, a year or wording such as Father's Day 2027. Enter it exactly as you want it to appear; a date shown in an example will not be added to your order automatically.
Can the gift be from more than one child?
Yes. Include all the children's names in your bottom wording, for example Amelia, Oliver & Adam xxx. Plan the handprint arrangement before decorating: the number of prints that fit depends on the children's hand sizes and your chosen layout.
What colours can I choose?
Black, Grey, White, Beige, Pink, Blue and Brown. Your selected colour is used for the frame and raised recipient word; the central panel stays natural wood and the engraved wording stays dark. Pink and Blue have a soft pastel appearance. Screen settings and natural lighting can affect how colours look.
Can I choose the colour of the handprints?
Yes, when you decorate the frame at home. The colour option on the product page selects the wooden frame and raised word, rather than the paint for the prints. Paints are purchased separately.
Is this a photo frame with glass?
It is a wooden handprint keepsake with a decorative raised border. There is no glass front or removable photo insert. The exposed wooden centre is the surface you personalise with handprints.
Is a stand included?
Yes. A wooden display stand is included so the finished keepsake can stand on a shelf, desk or mantelpiece. Place it on a stable indoor surface and allow any paint to dry completely before displaying.
Can I see a preview of my wording?
A wording preview is available on request. Contact us before production if you need to check a custom recipient, longer message or particular line arrangement. We may adjust the text size and spacing to fit the design.
How do I get a clearer handprint?
Practise on spare paper first, use a thin, even layer of suitable paint and gently press the hand onto the blank wooden centre. Lift it straight away without sliding. Let each print dry before adding another. Avoid soaking the wood; paint performance and drying times depend on the product you use.
Is it suitable for Father's Day and Mother's Day?
Yes. Choose the recipient and add wording for the occasion. It also works as a birthday or Christmas gift for grandparents, a thank-you for an auntie or uncle, or a keepsake given simply because the children want to make something personal.
How should I care for the finished keepsake?
Keep it indoors, away from damp conditions and strong direct sunlight. Dust gently with a soft, dry cloth. Do not immerse it in water or use abrasive cleaners. Natural wood grain and small differences in painted finish make each piece slightly different.
