How to personalise your first day sign

Choose the Name Colour and Size, then complete the two personalisation fields:

1. Child’s name: enter the name exactly as you want it to appear. For the style shown in the photographs, write Adam’s or Emmy’s, including the apostrophe and s. These are not added automatically. If you want the name only, enter Adam.
2. Class or setting and date: enter the word you would like below “FIRST DAY OF”, followed by the date. For example, Reception / 04/09/2027. You can choose School, Nursery, Reception or Preschool. If you would prefer no date, write Nursery / No date.

This example creates an Adam’s FIRST DAY OF Reception plaque with 04/09/2027 beneath it. “FIRST DAY OF” and the illustrated design form part of the standard plaque; the name, setting and date come from your personalisation. Check the dimensions against a ruler before choosing. Lifestyle photographs illustrate the design; use the selected size measurements to judge the size you will receive. The layout may be adjusted to suit the length of the name and chosen wording.

Choose Pastel Blue, Pastel Pink, White, Orange, Grey, Beige, Sage Green, Brown, Navy, Purple or Violet. Only the raised name is painted in your selected colour; the circular base remains natural wood with engraved details. The gallery includes a colour guide to help you compare the options.

Colour appearance can vary slightly between screens, lighting and the natural wood surface. Each plaque also has its own grain pattern and subtle shade variation.

Materials, finish and care

• Natural birch plywood base with a raised wooden name; the base is made from 3 mm plywood.
• Painted name lettering with permanently engraved wording and decorative details.
• One personalised plaque in the colour and size selected. Toys, books and other styling props are not included.
• Keep dry and display indoors. Wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth; avoid soaking or rubbing the painted lettering.
• A decorative keepsake and supervised photo prop, not a toy. An adult should hold or support the sign where needed.

Frequently asked questions

Can I order this for nursery or reception instead of school?

Yes. Enter Nursery, Reception, Preschool or School in the “Class or setting and date” field. The standard wording above it reads “FIRST DAY OF”.

Do I need to include the apostrophe and s with the name?

Yes, if you want that style. Enter Adam’s for “Adam’s FIRST DAY OF School”, or Adam if you want the name without the possessive ending. We do not add an apostrophe or s automatically.

What date should I enter?

Enter the date you would like engraved, in the format you want displayed, for example 04/09/2027. Check your child’s actual starting date; the date shown in the gallery is only an example.

Can I have the plaque without a date?

Yes. Include the setting and write “No date”, for example Reception / No date, so your preference is clear.

Is the name raised or engraved?

The name is separate raised wooden lettering painted in your chosen colour. The milestone wording, setting, date and decorative illustrations are engraved into the circular base.

Can I change the details each year?

The name is fixed and the engraved wording is permanent. This plaque records one chosen milestone; it is not a wipe-clean board or an interchangeable school sign.

Which size should I choose?

Choose from 12, 17, 20 or 30 cm diameter. Regular is compact, Large works well for hand-held photographs, and XL or XXL gives the sign more presence. Check the measurements before ordering.

Does my colour choice change the whole disc?

No. Your colour choice applies to the raised name. The disc remains natural wood with engraved details, as shown in the photographs.

Can I see a preview or request different wording?

A preview is available on request. Contact us before ordering for a different language, unusual wording or a layout that needs checking.

Will my plaque look exactly like the example photographs?

It will use the same design with your selected details, colour and size. Name length can affect the lettering layout, and natural wood grain and shade vary from piece to piece.

When will my order be dispatched?

Orders are usually dispatched the next working day once complete personalisation details have been received. Check the current delivery information and your chosen postage service before ordering for a particular date.
