Choose your size

All sizes are approximately 3 mm thick. The measurements refer to the diameter of the round plaque. Please check the size before ordering; photographs show styling examples.

How to personalise your sign

1. Choose the size from the product options.
2. Child’s name: enter the name only, for example Adam. We add ’s to create the name heading.
3. First day of: enter the stage only, for example Preschool. The design already includes “FIRST DAY OF”.
4. Date to engrave: enter the date exactly as you want it shown, for example 17-04-2023. If you prefer no date, enter no date.

Finished example: Adam’s / FIRST DAY OF / Preschool / 17-04-2023.

The names and dates in the photographs are examples. Please enter your own details and double-check spelling, capitals and the date before adding your sign to the basket. We use the information supplied for your order. For an unusual name ending, a longer message or a different heading, please contact us before ordering so we can confirm the wording and layout.

What can I personalise?

The child’s name, the stage after “FIRST DAY OF”, and the date. The fixed layout includes the first-day wording and small heart.

Can I order a first day of nursery sign?

Yes. Enter Nursery in the “First day of” field. Preschool, Reception and School are also popular choices.

Is this suitable for starting Reception or school?

Yes. Enter Reception or School as your stage to create the wording for that milestone.

Should I enter the apostrophe and s with the name?

No. Enter the name only, such as Adam. We add ’s to make the heading. If you need a specific possessive spelling or heading, please contact us before ordering.

Which date format should I use?

Enter the date in the format you want engraved. For example, 07-09-2026 or 7 September 2026. Please check the date carefully; the date in the photographs is an example.

Can I leave the date off?

Yes. Write “no date” in the date field so we know to omit it intentionally.

Can I request another stage or different wording?

You can enter another short stage in the stage field. Please contact us first for changes to the main heading or a longer message, so we can confirm that it will fit.

What about long names or accented letters?

For a long name or special characters, contact us before ordering to confirm suitability. Longer wording may need a smaller layout to fit the plaque.

Will I receive a design proof?

A proof is not automatically included. Please contact us before ordering if you need a layout checked or would like to discuss a specific request.

What sizes are available?

Choose 12 cm, 17 cm or 22 cm diameter. All three sizes use approximately 3 mm birch plywood.

What is the plaque made from?

Natural birch plywood with laser-engraved personalisation. Wood grain, tone and small natural markings vary from piece to piece.

Is the name raised?

No. All lettering is engraved into the wooden surface. This is the engraved version of our first-day keepsake.

Can I wipe off the writing and use it again?

The engraving is permanent. This is a personalised keepsake, rather than a wipe-clean board. You can request no date if that suits your intended use.

Are props or a stand included?

No. Your order contains one personalised plaque in the chosen size. Other items in the photographs are used for styling.

Can I buy it as a gift?

Yes. Please confirm the child’s name, stage, date and preferred size before ordering so the personalisation is correct.

When will my order arrive?

Will mine look exactly like the photograph?

The design follows the same style, with your chosen details. Natural wood grain, engraving tone and the spacing needed for different names can vary.

Store it somewhere dry and wipe gently with a dry, soft cloth. Avoid soaking, bending or prolonged damp conditions. It is a decorative photo prop and keepsake, not a toy; use with adult supervision.
